Many of the monuments in Washington were constructed of granite and marble and will stand long after The Gathering of Eagles is a forgotten footnote of revisionist history.
30,000 patriots were moved to brave ice storms, financial hardship and the stench of human debris to ensure that no harm came to the Vietnam Memorial last Saturday at the hands of Leftists armed with spray paint.
And yet, just a few blocks away, the most important testament to the very freedom of speech and assembly we celebrated remains under siege. Tucked safely under glass, this national treasure is safe from those who would outwardly do it harm.
But who will stand against those who seek to shred it from within?
I am worried for our future when the mainstream media is so corrupt that it turns a blind eye to the truth of our numbers in favor of populist propaganda.
As we enter the winter of our country's history, it will surely take more than the flags and fanaticism of a few dedicated patriots to ensure that our Constitution will remain written in stone.
I have faith that there are enough of us who still believe in the Constitution, and the words and meanings of our founders, that we can prevail against those amongst us who would destroy our history.

Legislatively, the progressives in Congress and out will probably make their move in the doldrums of summer. America is mentally elsewhere then, Congress knows it and mixed with the fact that their timeline is to destroy the rest of the effort in Iraq by August, a clear message needs to be sent before.
If it was my call, I'd say it will be July 4th when the moonbats will probably try to return in force to DC, thus giving their allies in Congress cover to act.
DC is the new Rome where only spectacle is acknowledged. The left understands this while the right normally rejects it. Next time, they'll create the spectacle they need.
If so, I'll be there.
[JANE SAYS: Does the Right have it in them anymore? We are just too damned NICE.]

The problem isn't our numbers, it's our representation. In government, and especially in the media. Do the majority of us think we're the minority because of the irresponsible coverage we get from the media? This weekend was a perfect example. How many right-thinking Americans saw the coverage of the hippies and think no one else was there? How is mainstream America supposed to know that their opinions are mainstream when all they see are leftwing lies? We all should go to our local news stations, or at least to their web sites, and ask them why the real story wasn't covered.

I visit the stone one often. It's a stirring memorial to our heritage as Americans.
